Norma Knauer

Norma Jean (Frederick) Knauer, 73, of Renfrew passed away at 2 a.m. Monday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

She was born on Jan. 13, 1941, in Butler to the late James William Frederick and Magdalen “Lena” (Ferezan) Frederick.

Norma was a 1958 graduate of Butler High School. She worked as a travel agent at Dunn's Travel Service since 1975. Norma was a partner at Travel Center of Butler, Inc. since 1990, retiring in 2003.

She was a member of the Crossfire Church.

Norma is survived by her husband, Robert B. Knauer, whom she married on Oct. 8, 1960; two sons, Robert David Knauer of Renfrew, and Jeffrey Paul Knauer and his wife, Amy, and their children, Adam and Evan Knauer of Butler; her daughter, Robin Whann and her husband, Victor, and their children, Jacob and Nicholas Whann of Butler; her mother-in-law, Helen Knauer of Butler; her brother, Dennis James Frederick and his wife, Marilyn, of Dallas, Texas; her sister, Judith Ann Fry and her husband, Harry, of Butler, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Knauer — The friends of Norma Jean (Frederick) Knauer, who passed away Monday, May 26, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., Butler, with Pastor Eric Park officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society of Greater Pittsburgh, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205 or to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
