Seven Butler County players helped the Advanced Approach 16-year old girls volleyball team capture the title of the Penn State-Fayette Tournament Sunday.That group included Butler's Becky Smith and Stephanie Mock and Seneca Valley's Paige Banyas, Sarah Beals, Anna Homisky, Kellie Karasack and Cassie Kulp.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Georgetown juniors Jeff Green and Roy Hibbert were among five unanimous selections to the All-Big East first team Monday.Pittsburgh's Aaron Gray, the only repeat selection from last season, and fellow seniors Herbert Hill of Providence and Demetris Nichols of Syracuse were the other unanimous picks.

The fourth-seeded Butler Valley Dawgs won the PAHLBantam A Major Gold Championship Saturday, defeating the Morgantown Blades (15-3-3) in a shootout for a 3-2 win in the championship game.Earlier in the tourney, the Dawgs (12-6-2) upset the previously undefeated Amateur Penguins (15-0-5) 3-1Playing for the Dawgs were Brendan Lewis, Nick Brubach, Luke Wagner, Ben McAllister, Matt Eshelman, David Kerin, Brandon McCarthy, Joey Smith, Domenic DeSanti, Jake Tomasovic, Brayden Durnell, Ricky McNulty, Coalton Lucas, Doug Thompson and goaltender Ryan Naples.Coaching the Dawgs were Tom McAllister, Tom Eshelman and Craig Thompson.
