Astronaut supplies on their way to ISSCAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — A U.S. shipment of much-needed groceries and other astronaut supplies rocketed toward the International Space Station for the first time in months Sunday, reigniting NASA’s commercial delivery service.If the Orbital ATK capsule arrives at the space station Wednesday as planned, it will represent the first U.S. delivery since spring.“Santa is on his way!” Tory Bruno, president of rocket maker United Launch Alliance, announced via Twitter.More than anyone, the six space station astronauts were thrilled following all the weather-related delays. They managed to photograph the rising rocket from their windows as both craft sailed over the Atlantic. “Caught something good on the horizon,” commander Scott Kelly reported in a tweet.

Joint memorial service slated todayHONOLULU — The National Park Service and the U.S. Navy plan to hold a joint memorial service today to mark the 74th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack.The joint service is a rehearsal for what is expected to be a much bigger memorial service next year to mark the 75th anniversary of the attack by Japan that killed over 2,400 Americans and brought the U.S. into World War II.In previous years, commemorations took place at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. This year and next year, the ceremony will be at Kilo Pier. More than 3,000 guests and the general public are expected to attend. Next year’s 75th anniversary will be a much larger event with almost 6,000 people.
