Betty J. Johnson Stivason, 77, of Butler died at 10:10 p.m. Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 31, 1930, in Butler, she was the daughter of Ann Taylor and the adoptive daughter of Gertrude Madison.

She was a past president of the VFW 249 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Tri-State Music Association. She enjoyed dancing and listening to music.

Mrs. Stivason had worked at the Old Red Barn Restaurant, Robert's Bakery and the Shop & Save bakery.

Surviving are her husband, Harold Stivason; a daughter, Evelyn Dornon of Kittanning; five sons, Tyrone Johnson of Butler, Joseph Johnson of Monroeville and Brian, William and Terry Johnson, all of Butler; 12 grandchildren; and a brother.

She was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Sanderson, and a brother.
