Colorful sand made great art at Regatta
The artwork of at least 140 children and youths who visited the Associated Artists of Butler County table at the Moraine State Park Regatta last weekend is lighting up the Butler Art Center on Main Street.
Stephen Harding, a board member and art instructor with Associated Artists of Butler County, said young artists at the Regatta made a design on paper using Elmer’s glue, then covered it in the colored sand of their choosing.
While some took their artwork immediately and others left it with the Associated Artists to cure and picked it up when leaving the Regatta, about half of the artwork was taken back to the art center on Main Street in Butler and displayed.
Those who made sand art at the Regatta could pick their work up this week if they chose to do so.
Harding said the diverse pieces make a great display at the art center, which has partnered with the regatta for many years.
