EVANS CITY - Sixth grade students at Evans City Middle School recently donated $200 and 606 pounds of sold drink tabs to raise money to buy a service guide dog for a boy with multiple sclerosis through the Order of the Eastern Star Grand Pittsburgh Chapter.

The soda pop tabs brought in an additional $280 for a total collection of $480.

Teacher Sandy Wagner organized the effort.

Worthy Grand Matron Jo-Anne Karnes, Worthy Grand Patron D. Ronald Kerns and four other officers of the Eastern Star organization attended an assembly to receive the donation.
