Higher education grants available for veterans’ children
The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs said children of disabled and deceased veterans can apply for up to $500 in financial assistance per semester for higher education.
Children of honorably discharged veterans with service-connected disabilities who served during periods of war or armed conflict, or children of veterans who died in service during a period of war or armed conflict are eligible to apply for $500 per semester for eight semesters from the Education Gratuity Program.
To be eligible, children must be between ages 16 and 23, live in the state for five years, attend a school in the state and demonstrate financial need. Butler County residents can apply through the county veteran’s services office.
