His Chair

It has been two years since you have been in that chair.

Your chair, where I could see the top of your head above the newspaper or magazine that you were reading.

Where you sat close to mom having a conversation at the end of the day.

What a presence you had and you never knew it. I didn’t know it until you were gone.

It is like anything else in life, you don’t know how hard it is to lose a parent, until it hits home and you realize their presence is gone. Physically that is.

Not a day goes by that you don’t enter our lives, in memory, a vision or a tear.
