Leroy J. Gallagher
Leroy J. Gallagher, 83, of Buffalo Township passed away at 6:30 a.m. Friday while in the company of family members at the Saxony Health Center in Saxonburg.
Leroy was born in Buffalo Township on Jan. 3, 1930. He was the son of the late Anna D. (Kelly) and Harry A. Gallagher.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After the war, he went to work as a heavy equipment operator for Burrell Construction in New Kensington for 40 years. He was a member of Local Union 66 Operating Engineers in Monroeville.
He enjoyed farming, raising hogs, reading the newspaper and his dogs, cats and birds. He was an avid sports fan and liked watching football and watching his grandson play hockey.
Leroy was a past member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot.
Leroy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Christina F. (Ullmann) Gallagher; two children, Roy J. Gallagher and Kelly A. (John) Dobransky, all of Buffalo Township; his grandchildren, Nicholas and Katlyn Dobransky; his nephew, Harry A. “Butch” Gallagher of Finlay, Ohio; two nieces, Sharon (Rich) Wheeler and Dianne (James) Michaels; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Harry A. Gallagher, and his sister, Theresa James.
GALLAGHER — At the request of Leroy J. Gallagher, who died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, there will be no public visitation and his family will have a private visitation at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport.
