Lawrence E. “Joe” Moyer

Lawrence E. “Joe” Moyer, 80, of Karns City died early Monday morning at the VA Butler Healthcare.

Lawrence was born in Parker, April 17, 1937. He was the son of the late Lawrence E. Sr. and Anna (Lange) Moyer.

Joe attended school in Parker. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War era.

He was of the Methodist faith. Joe enjoyed sitting on his porch and visiting with his neighbors. He was a life member of the Petrolia and Parker volunteer fire departments and had served with the fire police of both departments. In his earlier years, he was an EMT and driver with the Petrolia Fire Department Ambulance Service.

He retired on Jan. 1, 1970, after nearly 15 years of service with Glass Containers in Parker.

He is survived by his wife, Donna J. Oskowski Moyer, whom he married in Ripley, N.Y., on May 11, 1960. Also surviving is a son, Paul G. Moyer and his wife, Sharon; and a grandson, Dalton L. Moyer, all of Haysville; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James, and three sisters, Elsie Michaels, Judy Muleman and an infant sister, Linda.

MOYER — Friends of Lawrence E. “Joe” Moyer, who died Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hile Funeral Home, 128 Main St., Karns City. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Lewis, pastor of the Karns City United Methodist Church, officiating.Military honors will be conducted by the Chicora, Bradys Bend and East Brady American Legion Posts and will follow the funeral service.For additional information or to send a condolence, please visit www.hilefh.com.
