Patrick Joseph “PJ” Evans
Patrick Joseph “PJ” Evans, 75, of Butler passed away Wednesday at the VA Butler Healthcare.
He was born March 17, 1942, in Butler to the late Leo Evans and Leaudra Rose Miller Evans.
Patrick was a graduate of Butler High School. He worked for the Butler Township Police Department from 1967 to 2003, retiring as a sergeant.
Patrick was a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1966, serving in the Vietnam War aboard the USS Bexar and the USS Princeton. He was a member of the American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl L. (Snyder) Evans, whom he married Nov. 30, 1991; two daughters, Denise (Dan) Angert of Fenelton and Marcie (Patrick) McLaughlin of Butler; four grandchildren, Curtis (Kristen) Schaffner, Matthew Schaffner, Michael (Andrea) Schaffner and Christopher (Autumn) Schaffner; five great-grandchildren; one brother, John “Pete” Evans of Butler; two sisters, Theresa Ligus of Butler and Anna Franchuk of Butler; two brothers-in-law, Jeffrey Snyder and David (Brenda) Snyder; one sister-in-law, Sandy (David) Weyand; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rita Twerdok and Pauline Chepelsky; and also by one brother, Leo Evans Jr.
