Gary D. Stevens

Gary D. Stevens, 77, of County Line Road, Harrisville, died at 7:33 p.m. Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

A son of Kenneth and Mary Walter Stevens, he was born in Harrisville on Jan. 24, 1936. He attended Slippery Rock High School.

Gary was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he had been a member of the Harrisville American Legion Post.

A heavy equipment operator, he had worked for several area coal mining companies. His leisure time was spent tinkering with and mowing with his tractors and his dog. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his treasures.

On Oct. 2, 1961 he married the former Carole Hiwiller. She survives along with a daughter, Anita Stevens of Renfrew; two sons, John Stevens and his companion, Punkin Redmond, and David Stevens and his wife, Letha, all of Harrisville; four grandchildren, Amy Cornelius and her husband, Josh, of Harrisville, Alan Stevens of Greenville and Wesly Stevens and Kelsey Stevens, both of Grove City; two great-grandchildren, Alexander and Annabella Cornelius; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pat Shirey.

STEVENS — Friends of Gary D. Stevens, who died Friday Aug. 2, 2013, will be received in the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville, from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
