Muddy 5K set at Jeep festivalWORTH TOWNSHIP — The Muddy 5K Race will be 8 a.m. June 12 at Cooper’s Lake Campground as part of the sixth annual Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival.Runners must be at least 12 years old.The pre-registration fee is $40 and includes a T-shirt. The deadline is May 8.The event is managed by the Butler Outdoor Club and will feature mud and obstacles including tires, cargo nets, steep hills, wooded trails, and the Jeep Playground.Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in all age classes, as well as the top overall male and female finishers.On-site registration will be from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m. June 12 and is $50.For information, visit www.bantamjeepfestival.com/5k-mud-race/ or call 724-256-4050.
FAB Showcase raises $57KBUTLER TWP — The FAB Showcase in the Butler School District raised more than $57,000, according to the Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation.Board member John Reddick said the 13th annual art show and auction on Saturday raised $57,362 for the foundation.It raised money by auctioning off artwork by ninth to 12th grade students, hosting raffles and having vendors. A 50/50 raffle raised $4,300 with Michael Fiorina winning the raffle.Proceeds will fund student scholarships and creative teaching grants for educators in the district.Last year, the FAB Showcase raised almost $60,000.
