Florence M. “Flo” Rieder, 81, of Bruin passed away Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born Dec. 21, 1931, in Perry Township, Armstrong County, the daughter of Wesley Leroy and Ruby (Shoup) LeVier.

Flo was a resident of the area all of her life, and she was a member of the Faith Community Church, formerly the Bruin United Methodist Church.

Flo married Bud Rieder on April 16, 1950, and they shared 61 wonderful years together.

She was previously employed by the former Parker Glass Co., and she was a school bus driver for the Karns City School District.

Flo enjoyed bowling and was an avid reader, but she was known for her cooking. She always made sure everyone who came to her home to visit, sampled her delicious dishes before leaving. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have fond memories of her wonderful noodles, hot sandwiches and chicken and biscuits. Flo was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend that will be truly missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Debra Jordan and her husband, Jackie, of Bruin; three grandchildren, Alisha Ann Holt and her husband, Robert, Stefanie Lynn Whitmer and her husband, Dean, and Michael Jordan; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Horner and her husband, Darrell, of Rimersburg and Mabel Vensel of Fairview.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Norman H. “Bud” Rieder Jr., who died July 7, 2011; three brothers, Milton, Leroy and William LeVier; and three sisters, Edith Bowser, Sarah Orr and an infant sister.

RIEDER — Relatives and friends of Florence M. “Flo” Rieder, who passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, may visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia.Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
