Cecil Boyd Beachem

Cecil Boyd Beachem of 110 Beachem Lane, Slippery Rock, Worth Township, died at 6:04 p.m. Monday at his home.

Born in Beaver County, June 14, 1933, he was the son of Cecil Rhodes Beachem and Florence Mae Boyd.

His first marriage was to Anna Mae McConnell on Feb. 2, 1953. She passed away Aug. 28, 1972. His second marriage was to Alma Ruth Thompson on Feb. 9, 1985, who survives.

He was a Protestant.

He was retired from Cooper Energy, Grove City, where he had worked in the shipping department. He also was a self-employed farmer.

He loved farming and hunting and was a member of the NRA.

Surviving are his wife, Alma R. Beachem of Butler; a son, Stephen L. Beachem of Slippery Rock; three daughters, Vicky L. Touhey of Navarre, Fla., Debra S. McMurdy of Slippery Rock and Cheryl A. Yavorsky and her husband, Lance, of Slippery Rock; four stepchildren, Jacob W. Dingel of Butler, Thomas Robert Dingel and his wife, Bernice, of New Providence, Pa., Karen L. Ford of East Butler and Katherine E. McGregor of Chicora; two brothers, Eugene R. Beachem and his wife, Nancy, of Austin, Texas, and Gary L. Beachem and his wife, Judy, of Slippery Rock; and a sister, Lura Cawthorne of Butler. Seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to his parents, and first wife, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Kenneth L. McMurdy Sr.

<B>BEACHEM</B> Visitation for Cecil Boyd Beachem, who died Monday, April 13, 2009, will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Slippery Rock Cemetery.
