NATRONA HEIGHTS— The Butler Area Midget Football League All-Stars defeated the Highlands Hornets, 46-0, recently to close their youth league season.

Steve Shoemaker scored on a 30-yard run, Keenan Barlow on a 12-yard run. Jacob Olenick returned a fumble 56 yards for a touchdown.

Jordan Cratty threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Barlow and Tim Butler scored on a 6-yard run for a 32-0 halftime lead. Butler added a 2-yard scoring run and Byron Minous a 15-yard TDrun in the second half.

Other BAMFL all-stars included Levi Leyland, Ian Bergbigler, Sean Hembree, Curt Hunka, Antonio Gonzalez, Randy Moyer, Gunther Gaiser, Mike Hepler, Bob Vernick, Nate Frain, Dakota Wolfe, Traven Hollenfreund, Nate Monks, Carl Matuke, Nolan Fox and Logan Collins.

SLIPPERY ROCK— Slippery Rock University forward Jeremy Deighton has been named PSACWest Men's Soccer Player of the Year.Deighton led The Rock with 32 points and paced the conference in goals per game, netting 15 in 17 games.Three other SRUplayers — Toby Bowser, Pat Conley and goalkeeper Greg Blum — also made first team all-conference.

Freeport's Kayla Eckman, an Ohio State University recruit, was voted All-Section 3-AA, all-WPIAL and all-PIAA to lead area girls honored by the Western Pennsylvania High School Girls Soccer Coaches Association.Other WPIALAll-Stars included Yellowjackets' teammate Courtney Boroski as well as Butler's Ashley Oluschak and Seneca Valley's Karisa Fernandez and Alesiha Rees for Class AAA.As for Section All-Stars, Jenny Jergel, Kate Kelly and Catherine Messmer joined Fernandez and Rees in Section 2-AAA, which also had Oluschak and Mars' Sarah Heckman, Lexie Mastro and Dana Wonderly.Alyssa Blake joined Eckman and Boroski as Section 3-AA section all-stars.
