Late Model race tightens up
BUFFALO TWP — The Late Model points race at Lernerville Speedway looks radically different this week than it did last week.
Sarver resident Michael Norris started the feature from the ninth position Friday night. He roared to his fourth feature win of the season and that, combined with the misfortune of other drivers — shook up the points race.
Tyler Dietz entered the night with an 18-point lead on John Garvin Jr. and a 23-point lead of Norris. Dietz had to take his car into the pits during Friday’s feature. He was able to return, but had to settle for 17th place. Garvin Jr.’s car broke while he was in the lead. He had to take a DNF and an 18th-place finish.
Dietz and Norris are now tied for the Late Model points lead with Garvin trailing by 16 points. Only a few Fridays remain in the Fab4 racing season.
RUSH Late Models, Sprints and Modifieds also raced at Lernerville on Friday as there were more than 100 cars in the pits.
Jeremy Wonderling of Wellsville, N.Y., won the RUSH Late Model feature, taking the lead with three laps to go. It was his first career feature win at the Sarver oval.
Blaze Myers won the RUSH Sprint car feature while Ayden Cipriano claimed the RUSH Sportsman Modified feature.
