Robert A. Young
Robert A. Young, 77, of Chazy, N.Y., formerly of Chicora, died Friday at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Chicora on July 19, 1934, the son of the late William and Marcella Stein Young.
He married the former Gloria Pfohler on Sept. 12, 1959, in Bethel, Maine.
Robert served his country in the U.S. Air Force. His 30-year military career included service in Vietnam. Then he worked as a chef for Howard Johnson's Hotel in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and later went to the Surrey Lounge at the hotel to oversee and to cook for its banquets.
He was a life member of the VFW Post 1466 in Beekmantown, N.Y., a charter member of the Plattsburgh Moose Lodge, a member and officer of American Military Retirees Association, and a member of the Disabled Veterans.
Survivors include his loving wife and life-long companion of 52 years, Gloria of Chazy; five children, Wendy and John Schwank, Cheryl McCarthy and her companion, Julio Castro, Eric and Patti Young, Roberta Young and Gloria Jean and Gary Beauharnois; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 10 siblings in the Butler area, Janie (Rich) Beltrami, Betty Fallecker, Cleo Tritch and her companion, Bernie Black, Mary Ferguson, Pauline Graham, Eleanor (John) Clouse, Virginia (Bart) Koreith, Regis Young and Alice, Norman (Madge) Young and John (Rita) Young.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Charles Young, Paul Young, Eileen Curtis, Dick Young and Bill Young.
<B>YOUNG</B> — At the request of Robert A. Young, who died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, there will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at the Assembly of God Church, Beekmantown, N.Y.
