John W. Davis
John W. Davis, 90, of Butler passed away Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born Sept. 19, 1925, in Butler to the late George W. Davis and Nellie (Brown) Davis.
John was a hard working and self-employed water-well driller, who provided service to homes and businesses for over 50 years. The family-owned business was started in the late 1940s and continues today as second generation businesses.
John enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his garages, gardening and hunting.
He was a War World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific. John attended the Oak Hills Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Lou (Fend) Davis, who he married Oct. 14, 1950; three sons, Richard Davis, Dennis Davis and his wife, Debbie, and John Davis and his wife, Kelly, all of Butler; one daughter, Beverly Davis of Butler; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; one sister; and his daughter-in-law.
DAVIS — Friends of John W. Davis, who died Sunday, March 13, 2016, will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Kimberly Merrill of the Oak Hill Christian Church officiating.
