William B. Robinson
William B. Robinson, 87, of Savannah, Ga., passed away Friday at his home.
He was a native of Greensburg, Pa., and a graduate of the Kentucky Military Institute and The University of Virginia.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
His career was in retailing, serving as vice president of The Troutman division of Allied Stores in Western Pennsylvania until 1976. In 1977, he was appointed president of The Jordan Marsh Division in Greensboro, N.C., before becoming president of Levy's Department Stores in Savannah in 1979.
He retired after 40 years, in 1987, as vice president of The Maas Brothers Division as it merged the Savannah stores with the Florida stores.
Among civic affairs, he was active in the Retail Merchants Association, the chamber of commerce, a chairman of the task force for the revitalization of Broughton Street, the Heart Association and the former Savannah Symphony Board of Directors member.
He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church and was a resident and member of The Landings Club.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alleda M. and Cecil B. Robinson, and one sister, Alledazelle Bush.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie K. Robinson of Savannah, Ga.; his nephew, Robert R. Bush; his two grandnephews of Phoenix, Ariz.; and our dearest friends, the Fallon Family.
ROBINSON — A memorial Mass for William B. Robinson, who passed away Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Ross as celebrant.
