Helen S. (Ostapowitz) Winters

Helen S. (Ostapowitz) Winters, 68, of Butler passed away at 4:22 p.m. Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born Nov. 18, 1947, in Atlantic City, N.J., to the late Joseph Ostapowitz and Helen (McCurdy) Ostapowitz.

Helen worked at the VA Butler Healthcare Medical Center as a file clerk for 30 years, retiring Dec. 31, 2014.

She was a veteran of U.S. Marine Corps, serving as a staff sergeant during the Vietnam War. Helen was a member of the American Legion Post 117.

She enjoyed shopping with her granddaughter. Helen loved music, dancing and spending time with her family and her dog, Trixie. She was very proud of her service.

Helen is survived by two sons, Danny E. Winters of Downingtown, Pa., and Bryan G. Winters and his wife, Kim, of Aston, Pa.; one daughter, Melissa M. Hensel and her husband, Steve, of Butler; four grandchildren, Jonathon and Kyle Winters, Adam Campbell and Bayleigh Hensel; and her dear friend, Joe Cooper.

WINTERS — Friends of Helen S. Winters, who died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev.
