Helen Marie McCurdy
Helen Marie McCurdy, 93, of Prospect passed away Tuesday at the Grove Manor Nursing Home in Grove City, following an extended illness.
She was born on July 18, 1922, in West Liberty to the late John Cahill McNees and Estella Wimer McNees. She married Arthur Clair McCurdy on Aug. 27, 1957, and he preceded her in death June 2, 1991.
She was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church. She graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1941.
She enjoyed hummingbirds, gardening and attending Slippery Rock High School's football, basketball and baseball games until she was 85.
She is survived by her daughter, Arleen C. McCurdy at home; her sister, Mary M. Thompson of New York; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Freda Palmer and Ruth Ardell Brown, and six brothers, John R., who was an infant, Isaac L., Merle T., George O., Russell P. McNees and Jim Wimer.
MCCURDY — Family of Helen Marie McCurdy, who died Tuesday, April 5, 2016, will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home in Slippery Rock.Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Nelson Thayer, pastor of the West Liberty United Methodist Church, presiding.Interment will be at the Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mt. Chestnut, Butler.
