Irma P. 'Sis' (Thompson) Bachman

Irma Bachman

Irma P. “Sis” (Thompson) Bachman, 86, of Chicora, formerly of Great Belt, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Friday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler with her loving family surrounding her, following a short battle with breast cancer.

Born on Aug. 12, 1927, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Ralph S. Thompson and Christine (Einsporn) Thompson.

Mrs. Bachman graduated from Butler High School and attended Butler Business School.

She retired from Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in 1989, with 19 years of service.

Mrs. Bachman was a member of the St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the American Legion of Saxonburg. She enjoyed landscaping the outside of her home with flowers, ponds and waterfalls and enjoyed decorating her house on the inside. She loved gardening, crocheting, ice skating, golfing, bowling and card parties. She also enjoyed camping with her family, traveling to Florida and was a Girl Scout Leader. She liked to go to auctions.

Toward the end of her life, she enjoyed taking road trips with her son and daughter. She enjoyed playing “Sorry” with her family and playing cards. She will be greatly missed by her family.

Mrs. Bachman is survived by her daughter, Sandra L. Gallagher of Chicora, with whom she made her home; her two sons, Terry Bachman and his wife, Delores, of Butler and Daryl Bachman and his wife, Robin, of Butler; her three granddaughters, Tammy Gallagher, Kristen Mason and her husband, Tom, and Sara Bachman; her grandson, Joe Gallagher and his fiancee, Joanna Wehr; her great-granddaughter, Parker Mason; her two step-grandchildren; her step-great-granddaughter, Ava Tirk; her faithful dog, Chico; her brother, Charles R. Thompson of Butler; her two nephews; and a number of other family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd J. Bachman, who she married on Aug. 10, 1946, and who passed away May 8, 1983; her son-in-law, Berny Gallagher; and her sister-in-law, Marie Thompson.

BACHMAN — The friends of Irma P. “Sis” (Thompson) Bachman, who passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Alden Towberman of the St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will take place in the Gruenwald Cemetery.Memorial donations are suggested to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Information and a private guest book are available at www.thompson-miller.com.
