Harriett Jane Rector
Harriett Jane Rector, 94, of Grove City and formerly of Slippery Rock, passed away from natural causes at the Grove Manor Nursing Home on Friday at 3:15 a.m.
She was born in Warren, Ohio, on May 9, 1922, to David Marshall Jervis and Vera Viola Johns Jervis. She married George James Rector March 20, 1943, in Arcadia, Calif. In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Harriett Jane worked for many years at Bard's Department Store in Slippery Rock. She was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church and the Slippery Rock American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, needlework and playing the organ.
Survivors include her daughter, Diane Rae Poulos and husband, James, of Grove City; her son, Dennis Marlin Rector and wife, Kathryn, of Bethlehem, Pa.; her daughter-in-law Charlotte Rector Bolinger and husband, Kevin of New Castle: a sister, Winifred Harlan of New Castle; four grandchildren, Jeff Rector, Melissa Rector Schooley, Michelle Poulos Stasny and Kristen Rector Mahin and seven great-grandchildren: Kale Rector, Quinn Rector, Elizabeth Schooley, Wyatt Schooley, Isabelle Mahin, Chloe Mahin and Megan Stasny. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Rector, and son, Robert Rector.
RECTOR — Friends of Harriett Jane Rector, who passed away Friday, June 10, 2016, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Douglas Turner, pastor of the Highland Presbyterian Church, presiding.
