Thomas Huffman Sr.

Thomas R. Huffman Sr., 80, of Gibsonia, passed away on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021.

Tom is survived by his wife, Susan, and his children, Thomas R. Huffman Jr. and Lee S. Huffman (Bridgitte); his stepchildren, Natalie Harnich (Eric), Dean Gutch (Debbie) and Melissa Gutch of Frazier Township; his 10 grandchildren, who will dearly miss their “Pap,” Luke, Blake, Nicholas, Isaac, Courtney, Meaghan, Brianna, Braidyn, Bryn and Brooklyn; and a brother, William Huffman of Allison Park.

As a master storyteller and warm and welcoming man, Tom made an impact on everyone he met. His source of light was his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom he met through his late parents, Lawrence and Dulcey Heasley Huffman.

He is survived by his brother, William of Allison Park; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his three siblings, Thelma Spirnock, Patricia Baker and Lawrence Huffman.

He was an active member of the North Park Baptist Church.

Tom had a successful basketball career at both Etna High School Class of 1960, and Wichita State University. He then enjoyed 35 years of marriage to the former Lynda Widmaier, who preceded him in death.

Tom's career involved mechanical engineering, drafting and sales with United Engineering, WHEMCO and Weld Tooling.

Tom was a car aficionado, who enjoyed showing his 1974 Corvette, and working at Advance Auto Sales post retirement.

As a lifetime Elk, Tom achieved the rank of both exalted ruler in Etna, and Allegheny district deputy grand exalted ruler. He was also given the Elk of the Year Award in 1990. Tom served in many capacities within the Elks but had a deep passion for serving and honoring our veterans.

HUFFMAN — Friends of Thomas R. Huffman Sr., who died Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, are invited to a celebration of his life to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at North Park Baptist Church, 1600 Sample Road, Allison Park.

Burial was in West Union Cemetery, Pine Township.

Arrangements are under the direction of McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.
