Bernardi withdraws from school board election
Butler School Board member Art Bernardi has withdrawn from the November election.
The county Bureau of Elections got a letter from Bernardi asking that his name be removed from the ballot.
“It’s been a great run for me, a great 10 years,” Bernardi said this morning. “It’s time for me to spend more time at home. I’m involved in a lot of other things.”
Bernardi was the high school’s head football coach for 25 years and spent 38 years in Butler’s education community, he said. The district’s football stadium is named for him.
Monday was the last day for candidates nominated in the primary to withdraw.
Bernardi, a Republican, was one of seven candidates slated to be on November’s ballot.
Now there are six candidates and there will be five winners in November.
