W. Dean McBride
W. Dean McBride, 89, of Butler died Monday at his home.
Born Oct. 5, 1917, in Plain Grove Township, he was a son of Paul G. and Florence Black McBride.
He had worked for the Butler School District for 15 years until his retirement, and earlier had worked at the Chantler Baking Company in Butler for 23 years.
He was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian, the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora, and the VFW Post 249 in Butler.
A veteran of World War II, he had served with the Army in China, Burma and India.
He is survived by his wife, Monica McKruit McBride, whom he married Oct. 15, 1949. Also surviving are a son, Dean E. McBride of Portersville; a daughter, Mrs. Douglas (Cynthia F.) Koehring of Butler; three grandchildren, Danielle, Devin, and Spencer Koehring, all of Butler; and three sisters, Elana Sullivan of California, Elizabeth VanTassel of Conneautville and Jean McTigue of Frederick, Md.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lt. Commander Earl P. McBride, who was killed in the Vietnam War.
<B>McBride</B> — Friends of W. Dean McBride, who died Monday, Dec. 25, 2006, will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian. The Rev. James Murphy will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.The bereavement group at St. Fidelis will hold a parish prayer service at 4 p.m. today.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Fidelis Church Building Fund, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler, PA 16001.
