James R. Berger

James R. Berger, 88, of Saxonburg died early today at the Saxony Health Center, Saxonburg.

Born May 11, 1917, in Saxonburg, he was the son of William and Alda M. Renfrew Berger.

He served with the Army in Europe during World War II.

Mr. Berger owned and operated Berger's Market in Saxonburg, which had been in the family for 74 years, and retired in 1992.

He was a member of the Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church and the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Co.

Surviving are a son, Jerry R. (Laurie Coury) Berger of Saxonburg; and two grandsons, Jay R. Berger of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and Joel W. Berger at home.

His wife, Mildred M. Berger, died June 24, 1974. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Ernest Berger; and a sister, Bertha Stuebgen.

<B>BERGER </B>— Friends of James R. Berger, who died Thursday, April 6, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Brewer officiating. Burial will be at the Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery.
