Three Butler County teams will be in action Friday night as the WPIAL basketball quarterfinal round commences.

In Class AAA girls, Mars plays Moon at 6:30 p.m. at Norwin High School.

In Class AAA boys, Knoch plays Hampton at 8 p.m. at North Hills High School.

In Class AAAA girls, Seneca Valley plays Oakland Catholic at 6:30 p.m. at Gateway High School.

Butler High School hosts a twinbill Friday night as well. Kittanning plays Blackhawk in Class AAA girls at 6:30 p.m. and West Mifflin plays Blackhawk in Class AAA boys at 8.

Butler High School graduate and California (Pa.) University sophomore forward Kim Nowakowski scored 16 points and added six rebounds in the Vulcans' 80-63 win over Shippensburg Wednesday.
