JACKSON TWP — Tom Donati's status as head coach of the Seneca Valley High School varsity swim teams remains unclear.

The Seneca Valley School Board took no action regarding Donati during Monday's school board meeting. It was the first public meeting of the board since Donati and the boys team failed to appear at a Feb. 15 swim meet.

"The district will not comment on personnel matters," district spokeswoman Linda Andreassi said Monday.

Dean Berkebile, board president, said at the meeting the board received "50 to 60" pieces of official communication concerning the issue, but would not say when the board would take any action on the coach.

Donati has confirmed he was suspended from coaching the boys and girls teams on Feb. 15, but he has not discussed the reasons that led to his suspension.

Donati, who is a middle school teacher in the district, is in his 10th year as head coach of the high school's swim teams.
