Mary Jeanette Sullivan Shope, 87, of Munhall died Sunday.

She was the beloved wife of 59 years of the late Henry “Harry” A. Shope Jr. She was the daughter of the late Joseph D. Sullivan and Ida Mae Kelly Sullivan.

Mrs. Shope was the center of the Shope family, where she was a loving spouse and mother of seven children. After raising her family, Mrs. Shope worked for 17 years as an administrative assistant in the physics department at Carnegie Mellon University.

Mrs. Shope was a devoted member of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church where she, along with her husband, headed the marriage preparation classes for many years. Mrs. Shope also was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Therese and at Mercy Hospital.

Mrs. Shope is survived by her children, Kathy (George) Janocsko of Munhall, Patricia (the late Dr. David) Vargo of North Huntingdon, Pa., Robert (JoAnna) Shope of Wayne, Pa., William (Janet) Shope, of Pompano Beach, Fla., John (Annette) Shope of Raleigh, N.C., James (Carol) Shope of Butler and Thomas (Amy) Shope of Venetia, Pa.

She also is survived by 16 grandchildren; and her brother, Donald J. (Jean) Sullivan of West Mifflin, Pa.

SHOPE — Friends of Mary Jeanette Sullivan Shope, who died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, 3501 Main St., Munhall.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church in Munhall. Interment will be at St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to St. Therese of Lisieux, 1 St. Therese Court, Munhall.
