Janet L. Parker
Janet L. Parker, 84, of Chicora died at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday at the Chicora Medical Center.
Born in Chicora, Aug. 7, 1923, she was the daughter of Dr. Harry L. Davis, D.D.S. and Mildred Catlin Davis.
She graduated from the Chicora High School in May 1941 and from The Butler Business College in December 1942.
Mrs. Parker and her husband owned Parker Plumbing in Chicora. When she retired in 1989, she sold the business to her son, Charles. She also worked at Indspec in Petrolia for a short time and for the Pennsylvania Parole Board for 10 years.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chicora, the Chapter 354 Order of the Eastern Star of Chicora and the Chicora Senior Center, where she delivered Meals on Wheels.
She enjoyed playing cards.
Surviving are a daughter, Cynthia Morrow and her husband, Terry, of Fenelton; two sons, John E. Parker and his wife, Gayle, of Fort Mill, S.C., and Charles Parker and his wife, Dodi, of Chicora; and five grandchildren, Michael Parker of Fort Mill, Jill and Jennifer Morrow, both of Fenelton, and Greg and Megan Parker, both of Chicora. A brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Her husband, Harry E. "Hap" Parker, whom she married Nov. 13, 1943, died June 24, 1982. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. K. L. Davis of Erie, and a sister, Roberta "Bobby" Davis of Chicora.
<B>PARKER </B>— Friends of Janet L. Parker, who died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. Visitation also will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Higgins officiating. Burial will be at Hemphill Cemetery. Chicora.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2217 Chicora Road, Chicora, PA 16025.
