Philip Vincent Volpe
Philip Vincent Volpe, 85, of Sun City Center, Fla., formerly of Butler, passed away Friday evening at LifePath Hospice in Ruskin, Fla.
Born July 6, 1931, in Butler, he was the son of the late Felice and Margaret Tiberi Volpe.
He was employed as a superintendent at Conrail. He retired in 1990 with 40 years service.
Philip was a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Sun City Center and Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
An avid golfer, bowler and gardener, he also belonged to the Elks Lodge in Ruskin, Fla.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Whipple Volpe; two sons, Philip Jay Volpe of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Thomas Ralph Volpe of Louisville, Ky.; one daughter, Patricia Daugherty and her husband, Larry, of Center Township, Beaver County; three sisters, Constance Ferrick and her husband, Charles of Butler, Lucy Mudrick of Butler and Florence Stakor of Butler; and six grandchildren.
VOLPE — Friends of Philip Vincent Volpe, who died Friday, March 24, 2017, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler.
Burial will take place at St. Michaels Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Catholic Charities, 212 Ninth St., Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
