Butler County drivers, give yourselves a hand. But wait until you come to a stop first.

Despite a few flakes, enough to cover the roadways, state police and county dispatchers are reporting an almost crash-free morning.

“We're not complaining,” said one county dispatcher about 7:30 a.m.

Since overnight, just one accident was reported just one minor accident.

One vehicle “slid off” Interstate 79 near the Zelienople exit in Jackson Township, state police said. No one was injured.

All Butler County public schools and most if not all private schools are also closed due to the brutally cold temperatures and wind chills.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Western Pennsylvania this morning. For Butler County, the advisory is on until 10 a.m.

The county also is under a wind chill warning until 7 a.m. Friday

The weather service is calling for a line of briefly moderate to heavy snow this morning and dangerously cold wind chills. Wind chills could dip to as low as 25 below zero with snow accumulations of up to one inch.

The wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes, authorities noted.

Motorists are also warned of slippery road conditions this morning that could make for hazardous conditions.

Tonight's forecast says is going to be partly cloudy with a low around 8-below and wind chill values as low as 24-below. Winds of 8 to 11 mph could gusts as high as 21 mph.

For Thursday, look for sunny and cold, with a high near 7. Wind chills could get as low as 23-below.
