It was a pretty impressive weekend for the Slippery Rock University baseball team in Fort Myers, Fla.

Thanks to a 5-for-5 effort by M.J. Parson, The Rock (8-1) used a 14-hit attack to edge Saginaw Valley State (Michigan) 3-2 on Saturday, then followed up with wins of 7-0 and 11-2 over Charleston (W. Va.) on Sunday.

Against Saginaw, Parson's RBI double in the top of the eight inning proved to be the winning run for SRU.

Parsons was one of four SRU players with multiple hits, joined by Phil Butch, Billy Herman and Scott Hugney, who had two hits apiece.

On Sunday, Chris Squeglia scattered six hits with five strikeouts in five scoreless innings in Game 1. Rich Hocanson tossed a three-hit shutout in five innings in Game 2. He struck out four and didn't issue a walk.

Matt Adams went 2-for-4 and three RBI in the second game while Butch added four hits in the two contests, including a 3-for-4 effort in Game 1.

Billy Messer went 3-for-5 in the second game and Hugney added three hits in the doubleheader.

Erika Brunner had four goals and two steals and Sarah Sander two goals and four steals to key The Rock's 9-0 win over Ithaca College.Meagan Jo Rammage added two goals and one steal and Ashley Goodwill added one goal, one steal and two assists. Lauren Surbaugh earned the shutout with eight saves.
