William A. 'Bill' Coward
William A. “Bill” Coward, 74, of South Buffalo Township passed away peacefully at 3:52 a.m. Sunday at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh.
Bill was born in the Laneville section of Freeport on Jan. 18, 1938. He was the son of the late Rhoda A. (McQueen) and Joseph L. Coward Jr.
Bill was a 1955 graduate of Freeport High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in the Pacific for three years.
After an honorable discharge from the Army, Bill worked for a number of years at Alcoa in New Kensington. He then worked as a plant manager for ABB Inc. in Greensburg for more than 25 years until his retirement in 2000.
Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved the game of golf.
He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Patricia (Schwietering) Coward; loving father of his two sons and their spouses, Jeff (Teri) Coward of Zelienople and Mark (Pam) Coward of Mt. Pleasant; proud grandfather of Connor Coward of Zelienople; and caring brother of Patricia Mitchell of Freeport.
Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Coward, who passed in 1976.
