This weekend, the legacy of all-terrain, mud-covered fun continues with the Bantam Jeep Festival.
My family has owned at least one Jeep throughout my entire life, and it’s helped us feel part of a community within a larger group of “Butlerites.”
I’ve hailed a Jeep wave, “ducked” a few Jeeps, and have been “ducked” in return.
This weekend is a celebration for everyone, not just Jeepers. Whether you drive a four-wheeled monster or not, the festivities in Butler will be a sight to see.
The Jeep Invasion will overtake the streets of Butler at 6 p.m. Friday, June 9. Various activities will continue throughout the weekend at Cooper’s Lake Campground in Slippery Rock.

Seven Fields Community Carnival returns for its 13th year beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 8, in the town park, 380 Castle Creek Drive. Pay $20 to ride all day, or $3 per ride.
Pack a dinner pail Thursday, June 8, for Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania’s Picnic in the Park series, featuring free, live music. Shows begin at 6:30 p.m. in Succop Nature Park, 185 West Airport Road, Penn Township.
Hear Butler County Symphony Orchestra artists perform as part of their summer concert series at noon Friday, June 9. Come in to the office on Main Street, stream it on Facebook, or sit in Diamond Park and listen.
Celebrate Mars New Year at a festival throughout the streets of the borough. Family friendly activities, food and more will all be available starting at 5 p.m. Friday, June 9. The festival continues on Saturday, June 10.
You also can attend a Trivia Night fundraiser for J and J Farms Animal Sanctuary beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, June 9, at the Saxonburg Fireman’s Club, 155 Pittsburgh St. in Saxonburg.
An artisan and vendor market will be offered at the Butler Art Center, 344 S. Main St., at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10.
Harmony will be buzzing with activity from sunup to sundown on Saturday, June 10. Starting at 10 a.m., browse the Artisan and Vendor Market on Mercer Street. Then at 5 p.m., participate in the Summer Wine Walk on High Street for the benefit of Zelienople Area Public Library. Tickets are available at eventbrite.com.
