BUFFALO TWP — AJ Flick had been hot of late, winning four races in his past five appearances entering Friday night’s Western PA Sprint Speedweek race at Lernerville Speedway.

He didn’t cool off.

Starting in the second row, Flick won the 30-lap feature and $3,000 payday, finishing ahead of racing legends Dave and Dale Blaney. Other top racers in the field included Mark Smith, Brandon Rahmer and 2021 Speedweek champion Ryan Smith.

Flick had to do a 360-degree turn to avoid getting involved in a wreck on Lap 14. He took the lead from Dave Blaney with six laps remaining.

In other features:

Jeremiah Shingledecker claimed his first win of the season in the Modifieds. He wound up beating Brian Swartzlander to the checkered flag in just 0.127 seconds.

Tyler Dietz started from the fourth spot, but claimed the Late Model feature. He took the lead on the final turn of the opening lap and won out over Ken Schaltenbrand and Alex Ferree.

Christian Schneider collected his first career Lernerville win in the Pro Stocks. He had won at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway, but never at the Sarver oval. He started on the pole and held off Dietz for the win.

Racing returns to Lernerville Friday with Fan Appreciation Night, which inckludes a fireworks show. School buses, kids bike races and a 100-lap Enduro will hit the Lernerville track on Saturday night.
