William R. Heidenreich

William R. Heidenreich, 76, of Butler, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2020, at Butler Memorial Hospital, where he fought a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born April 26, 1944, in Butler, and was the son of the late Willard R. Heidenreich and the late Agnes Shimmel Heidenreich.

William worked for Pullman Standard in the paint shop for 25 years. He then worked at the VA, retiring in 2006 as a carpenter.

William built model trains, enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking, and also was a multi-talented handyman. He especially loved his children and grandchildren.

William was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam era.

He was a member of Homeacre Chapel.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Minehart Heidenreich, whom he married on Aug. 7, 1965; two sons, William J. (Carrie) Heidenreich of Chicora, and David A. (Becky) Heidenreich of Butler; one daughter, Carole (Jason) Sholes of Slippery Rock; six grandchildren, Jay and Heather Sholes, Anna, Lora and Daniel Heidenreich, and Brandon Bowline; one brother, Thomas Heidenreich of Meridian; and several nieces and nephews.

HEIDENREICH — Due to the many restrictions imposed because of the coronavirus, there will be no public visitation for William R. Heidenreich, who died Monday, May 4, 2020.A private service was held with the Rev. David L. Fisher of Homeacre Chapel officiating.A memorial service will be held at a later date.Private burial took place in Butler County Memorial Park.Arrangements were entrusted to Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Butler.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
