Howard E. Smith, 67, of Harrisville passed away at 11:45 p.m. Friday at Grove City Medical Center.

A son of the late Walter and Mildred Michaels Smith, he was born on June 12, 1947, in Marion Township.

He was a logger.

“Dad” was a family man, enjoying outdoor activities with his family, particularly cookouts. He enjoyed working on cars, watching westerns and playing jokes on family and friends.

On Dec. 2, 2000, he married the former Sandra L. Toy; she survives along with six children, Debra Smith, Charlie Smith, Scott Smith, Jamie Toy, Lois Smith, and Raymond Smith. Also surviving are his five grandchildren, Nicole Smith, Logan Smith, Raila Moore, Christopher Shealy, and Zane Wiles.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Alex Moore, and his sister, Shirley Ann Hedglin.
