PITTSBURGH — A 15-year-old Pittsburgh boy is in jail on charges he shot and killed a Job Corps student from Texas during a robbery on Oct. 23.

Police say they arrested Lester Jackson on Monday on charges of criminal homicide, robbery and conspiracy.

Police say Jackson and several other teens accosted 20-year-old Christopher Evans of Dallas, near a Port Authority Busway stop. They say Jackson shot Evans when he resisted the robbery. Police say four other teens involved identified Jackson as the gunman. Police say the teens were trying to steal money to buy marijuana. It is not clear if Jackson has an attorney.

Evans attended a Job Corps program in Tulsa, Oklahoma, before coming to Pittsburgh last year.

PITTSBURGH — Design plans for Pittsburgh's proposed slot machine casino have a new enemy — Mayor Luke Ravenstahl. The mayor says the city's planning commission shouldn't approve the Majestic Star Casino because he thinks plans for an attached parking garage are too large and dwarf the $450 million casino. Ravenstahl is also unhappy that casino owner Don Barden has refused to build a "green" casino, because doing so would require him to ban smoking or create separate ventilated smoking areas for some gamblers.Casino spokesman Bob Oltmanns says talks with the city are ongoing.Just last week, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers settled their differences with the casino over traffic concerns.

PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh animal shelter is looking for a good home for a pot-bellied pig.The Animal Rescue League says the black pig, nicknamed Jellybean, was found roaming the hillside along the city's South Side. The pig responds to commands, like 'sit' and will come if called. That is giving officials at the shelter hope that they can find the pig's owners. If not, they'll put the pig in a foster home until the shelter can find a new, permanent home for the pig.The female pig is about 45 pounds and is less than a year old.
