Bernice Bleakney

Bernice M. Bleakney, 85, of Ellwood City passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Monday afternoon at her home.

She was born in Ellwood City on Aug. 6, 1927, to the late Carl R. and Florence Rough Wiltrout.

She was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, Class of 1945.

She was a longtime member of the Bell Memorial Presbyterian Church. She also had been a Cub Scout den mother for the cub pack at the church.

Bernice was a clerk at the former G.C. Murphy Co. store in Ellwood City for many years.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 66 years, Kenneth E. “Dutch” Bleakney, who she married March 19, 1947. She is also survived by her son, Carl E. Bleakney and daughter-in-law, Roxanne Rohal Bleakney of Slippery Rock; and one grandson, Adam Kenneth (Karen) Bleakney of Hanover, Pa.

BLEAKNEY — Friends of Bernice M. Bleakney, who passed away Monday Feb. 25, 2013, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.Friends may also call from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with her pastor, the Rev. Derek Longbrake, officiating. Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, North Sewickley.Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Bell Memorial Church, 610 Line Ave., Ellwood City, PA 16117 or to VITAS Hospice, 235 Alpha Drive, 101, Pittsburgh, PA 15238.
