Arlene Pearl Rape
Arlene Pearl Rape, 83, of Zelienople passed away Friday at the Grove at Harmony.
Born July 9, 1933, in Pocahontas County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Howard Delbert and Virgie Blanche Slayton Ray.
Arlene was a member of St. Peter's Reformed Church and a former member of the Zelienople Church of the Nazarene.
She was a 1953 graduate of Zelienople High School and worked at the Passavant Retirement Community for more than 18 years.
Arlene enjoyed reading, writing poetry, gardening vegetables and flowers, puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed attending church services.
Arlene first met her future husband, Melvin “Mel” Eugene Rape, at the Zelienople Diner. They married Dec. 14, 1953, and they spent 61 wonderful years together, until Mel died Nov. 24, 2015.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Dale (Rosann) Reeb of Butler, Gail Rape (Patrick) Madigan of Butler, Larry Rape of Fombell and Roger (Tracy) Reeb of Centerville, Ohio; her 10 grandchildren, Kim, Mike, Dan, Amy, Jennifer, Tanya, Kevin, Steve, Adam and Ben; her 13 great-grandchildren, Noah, Jonah, Julianne, Ethan, Cayden, Deklan, Dylan, Drew, Alexa, Gideon, Violet, Cole and Olivia; and one brother, Robert Ray, of West Virginia.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Arlene was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Delbert Ray; and two sisters, Dorothy Baker and Virginia Ray.
RAPE — The family of Arlene Pearl Rape, who died Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, will welcome friends from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral ceremony at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Boylan-Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 219 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with the Rev. James R.
