John Resek

Resek

John Edward Resek, 84, of Slippery Rock Township, passed away at AHN Grove City on Monday, May 22, 2023.

He was born in Fredonia, on Aug. 24, 1938, to Peter Resek and Teresa Bayuk Resek. He graduated from Fredonia-Delaware High School, Class of 1959.

He married Grace Louise Meyer Resek on June 5, 1965.

John was a veteran and served from 1961 to 1963 in the U.S. Army, followed by four years in the Pennsylvania National Guard.

He was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Peter Church, St. Faustina Parish in Slippery Rock.

John was a quiet man with a witty sense of humor. He loved people, going to auctions, and gardening. He was a talented grower and was known for his garlic. Above all else, John enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Grace at home; his son, John Paul (Stacey) Resek of Butler; his daughter, Monica Resek of Slippery Rock; and four grandchildren, Cassandra, Alexis, Walker Vogan and Samantha Resek.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Francis “Rudy” Resek and Peter Resek; and three sisters, Teresa Kasula, Mary Camerlengo and Christina Gray.

RESEK — Funeral services for John Edward Resek, who died Monday, May 22, 2023, will be privately held at the SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.

Interment will be held at St. Anthony Cemetery, Harrisville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company & Rescue Team or the American Cancer Society.
