Outlaws at Lernerville Saturday
BUFFALO TWP — The World of Outlaws Sprint car series returns to Lernerville Speedway Saturday night for the Commonwealth Clash.
The feature will pay $10,000 to the winner.
Scheduled for May in previous years, the Commonwealth Clash was moved to September to avoid scheduling conflicts with drivers and rainy weather.
The Outlaws' last visit to Lernerville was in July for the annual Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup. That format featured a pair of 30-lap features, won by Danny Lasoski and Stevie Smith, respectively.
Three-time defending Outlaws champion Donny Schatz has 12 wins this year and again leads the points race. Jason Meyers, who won the 2008 Commonwealth Clash, is second in points, 18 behind Schatz. Meyers has eight wins on the season.
Joey Saldana holds the track record of 12.339 seconds at Lernerville but never has won a feature at the Sarver track. He trails Schatz by 48 points and leads the series with 18 feature wins.
Steve Kinser has won 17 features at Lernerville, but has won only twice in the Outlaws series in 2009. He sits fourth in points while Jason Sides is fifth.
As always, former Lernerville track champions Ed Lynch Jr., Tim Shaffer and Dale Blaney will be among the field of cars.
Lynch and Shaffer own Silver Cup victories here while Blaney is still looking for his first Outlaws series triumph at Lernerville.
