North Catholic swept Latrobe in a WPIAL Class 2A boys volleyball semifinal playoff Tuesday at Gateway High School.

The Trojans advanced with a 25-18, 25-23 and 30-28 victory. No other details were provided.

Ambridge 3, Mars 0 — The Planets slipped to 15-4 on the season with this WPIAL Class 2A semifinal loss at Gateway. Match scores were 25-23, 25-22, 25-21.

The Planets will play in a consolation match against Latrobe on Thursday at Peters Township High School in an effort to attain the WPIAL’s third PIAA tournament qualifying spot.

Moniteau trailed top-seeded Redbank Valley just 1-0 after five innings, but the Bulldogs plated five runs after two outs in the bottom of the sixth to win 6-0 in a District 9 Class 2A quarterfinal played in Rimersburg.
