Rural King opens
CENTER TWP — Rural King, an Illinois-based farm supply store, celebrated its grand opening in the Clearview Mall this morning.
The Butler County commissioners and township supervisors attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7 a.m.
The store has been open for a couple weeks, although its manager said the initial phase was a soft opening.
Rural King sells items such as livestock feed, farm equipment, agricultural parts, lawn mowers, workwear, clothing, housewares and toys. It has 80 locations across the country.
To help celebrate the opening, equipment from the Portersville Steam Antique Tractor Show will be there from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Saturday while Butler chain saw artist Ken Tynan will be at the store on Saturday as well.
The 107,000-square-foot store has 75 employees.
Rural King is one of the mall’s anchor stores, along with Boscov’s, JCPenney, Sears, Dick’s Sporting Goods and T.J. Maxx.
It replaced the Bon Ton, which closed last year.
