Daniel G. Buchanan
Daniel G. Buchanan, 64, of Irwin Township, Venango County, fought the good fight, finished the race, kept the faith and went home to be with his Savior on Tuesday at the VNA Hospice Unit, Butler, following a two-and-a-half year courageous battle with cancer.
Dan was born Jan. 7, 1952, in Grove City, to Gail V. and Leona M. Steele Buchanan. He married Cynthia A. Patterson on Aug. 17, 1973.
He was a graduate of Franklin High School, Class of 1970, and Butler Community College in 2001.
He retired from DCNR in 2014 from Moraine State Park, where he was in maintenance. Previously he was a millwright at Cooper Energy Service for 28 years.
Dan was a member of the West Unity Community Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He enjoyed archery, horseback and mule riding.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia at home; two children, Braden M. Buchanan and his wife, Hilary, of Emlenton, and Shana R. McLean and her husband, Ed, of Woodbridge, Va.; his granddaughter, Gwendolyn McLean, who Dan referred to as “Cupcake”; his mother, Leona Buchanan of Grove City; his sister, Marlyn Buchanan of Grove City; and many other extended family members.
Dan was preceded in death by his father.
BUCHANAN — Visitation for Daniel G. Buchanan, who died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at theCunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev Boyd Smith officiating.
