Pennsylvania American Water customers in some sections of Butler and Center townships should boil their water a little longer.

The company this morning extended an advisory asking customers on six streets to continue boiling their water until further notice.

The following streets are affected: Easy Street, North Duffy Road, Westbrook Drive and Westwood Manor Drive in Butler Township, and Amherst Drive and Oberlin Drive in Center Township.

Residents in the those areas should boil water used for cooking, drinking and brushing teeth for at least one minute, then let it cool down before using it.

The advisory was issued as a precaution following a water main break on Westwood Manor Drive Wednesday morning.

At least 40 customers lost water service until crews repaired the line by 11:30 a.m. The advisory covers the surrounding area as well.

Gary Lobaugh, external affairs manager for Pennsylvania American, said customers who did not lose water service completely during that period do not have to boil their water.

He said water quality testing indicated the advisory could not be lifted yet.
