Suspected Butler carjacker facing criminal charges
Butler police have arrested a city man accused of attempting to carjack two people and illegally board a school bus carrying a kindergarten student Friday.
Police Capt. Jim Hollobaugh said Brian Vlassich, 37, will be charged with two counts of criminal attempted robbery of a motor vehicle, a felony count of theft of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, and another crime related to his attempt to board a school bus Friday.
Police said Vlassich was arrested after an anonymous tipster called the department to report a man matching the description of the alleged car jacker was stuck in a vehicle behind Walmart in Butler Township.
Hollobaugh said when police arrived in the area they could not find Vlassich, but later learned that he had been picked up by an ambulance and taken to Butler Memorial Hospital.
He said police found Vlassich in the hospital's ER waiting room, and he “confessed to everything.”
Police said no weapon was involved in the attempted car jackings, and no one was injured. It was not immediately clear why Vlassich had been taken to the hospital.
